The Consequences of Trump

To all people of color, to Latinos and African Americans, to the refugees fleeing war and persecution, to immigrants from around the world,

To Muslims and Jews, to those of the Baha’i faith, to Hindus and others unnamed,

To all women. To our wives, our daughters, our sisters and our mothers,

To the disabled, the elderly, the poor and disadvantaged,

To the ongoing and future victims of human rights violations and justice denied,

To Earth and those many future generations who will suffer profoundly as avoidable climate change unfolds and permanently overheats our planet.  To the millions of species lost,

I am sorry.  We failed.

  1. *WE* didn’t fail them, Daniel – at least those of us who VOTED did not.

    The *90 MILLION* people who didn’t bother to take time out of their oh-so-busy days to do so were the ones who failed them – regardless of any flimsy rationale they cite to attempt to justify their non-participation.

    From a comment by Lloyd Lofthouse:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    “For this election, more than 50 million new voters registered to vote and most of those new voters registered as Democrats. In 2014, there were about 145 million registered voters and more than 80 percent voted.
    For THIS election, more than 200 million were registered to vote, a historical record, but 90 million decided not to vote on election day, also a record breaker, I think.”
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Right now it is tough for me to find it in my heart to forgive ANY of those 90 million people unless they were tethered to a gurney on life support.

    And I doubt it will get easier as DT dismantles what’s still good about this country.

      • With our heads down for the next four years? I become more afraid – for myself and for America – with every T-statement I read.

        I hope the Democratic Party is seriously digging through every little detail of their approach and will be ready to launch a much more media-effective campaign for the next election.

        “Taking the high road” is a great sound bite, but almost half of America doesn’t seem to fact check on it’s own, willing to believe whatEVER they read on their iPhones and hear on their television sets. Hoping that will change can only result in another four years of this horror.
